Pediatric dentistry is the dental specialty responsible for preventing, diagnosing, and treating oral diseases in children and adolescents.
- The appearance of the first teeth occurs between 6 months and 2 and a half years of age. During the infant stage, the pediatric dentist checks the eruption and general condition of the primary teeth or “milk” teeth and the growth of the maxilla and mandible. Oral care in infancy is vital to avoid problems in adulthood.
- It is recommended that the child’s first visit to the pediatric dentist should be at the age of one year and after the age of 5, visits should be every six months.
