Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure to whiten teeth. To remove stains, yellowing of the teeth, or to enhance their bright white tone. It is recommended for people over 16 years old.

A dental cleaning and a dental health assessment to rule out calculus or cavities is necessary at least one week before or on the same day of the procedure.

There are several types of teeth whitening:

  1. At home: a whitening kit will be provided by the dentist. It includes a foil cover, 4 syringes with whitening gel (carbamide peroxide), and an explanation of how to use it. *The whitening % of the gel can be 15% or 20% and will depend on the sensitivity and needs of the patient. It should be applied several days in a row until the material runs out.
  2. In office: the teeth are rinsed and a protective gingival barrier is applied on the gums to prevent them from being hurt by the gel. If the patient’s lips are dry, a little Vaseline is applied to prevent them from tearing and the gel from coming into contact with the lips. Then the whitening gel is applied on the enamel of the teeth and Glo led light is placed on the teeth with the gel for 8 minutes until completing three cycles.
